Poems by Brandon:

Nude Dude

There once was a dude from France,
He really hated his pants.
One day, while waiting for the bus,
"I must, I must, I must!"
And he stripped down to his underpants!

Fuss on the Bus!
There once was a big bus,
There was a big fuss
The driver turned to see,
What made everyone squee,
And crashed into a school bus!

Storm

The sky dumped buckets of rain,
My cats fur stands on its end,
I look to the sky...
FLASH, FLASH! CRACK! KA-BOOM!!!
As brilliant as a supernova,
Then, it was all over.

Storm (Edited)

The sky dumped buckets of rain,

My cats fur stands on its end,

I look to the sky...

FLASH, FLASH!
CRACK!
KA-BOOM!!!

As brilliant as a supernova,

Then, it was all over.

Cats

Cunning
Absolutely flawless
Terrific
Super nap! ZZZZZ...

Pizza

Soft, bubbling cheese,
may I have some more Please!
Scrumptious Marinara sauce,
oh, pizza, your the boss!
hard crunchy crust,
have some more, I must!

Fore!

The ball is set on the Tee,
"This better be good," "It must be!"
I swing back, and...

CRACK!

The ball flies,
as I cry:
"FORE!"

Homework

How do I get myself into this?!
Ow! I got a paper cut!
Math is hard!
E=mc2, whatever!
Woah, divide by WHAT?!!!
Oh, man! this has to be turned in TOMORROW!!!
Red is the color of my hand, OUCH!!!
Ka' now can I be done?

Brandon,
You are doing so many things well. Your ideas are very strong and I like how you are exploring rhyme in a purposeful way. I think my favorite is the "storm" poem, you crafted some very strong images in that one. One thing I would suggest is going back to reread some of these and look for opportunities to revise more than just that one. You never know ... a new idea that is even better may come to you.

Plant Project:

The Desert, with the heat and sunlight, little water and cool nights, strong winds and drought conditions, what more could a plant want?!
Any plant would half to adapt to these extreme conditions!

The Ozo Plant:

-It has spikes that stop animals from eating it.
-It has a tube that collects water when it rains.
-It is white colored that helps shade itself.
-It grows slowly and uses less energy and water.

Life cycle:

1. Seed germinates (takes 1 year).
2. maturation (from 10-25 years).
3. reproduction (over and over each year).
4. Looses spikes.
5. Dies (eaten).

During the night, pollenators pollenate this herbaceous, perennial plant.
The Ozo plant shoots its seeds out from the blue flower down into the sand at high speeds.
The Ozo plant is 4 feet tall and its flower is 6 inches tall. The Ozo plant grows no leaves Because the flower has no stem.

Brandon
Most of this is really good. You do need to add some specifics to the life cycle part. Think about how to add the terms maturation and reproduction. Also details like how long these processes take would be good.

Mr. K.,
I will try to fix what you said should be fixed, check me soon!

Adena culture

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered who lived before us, what they ate, what they built, and how they lived? you will find out in this report!
The people who lived before us are called the Adena culture!
You will learn the following in this report:
Most of what we know about this culture is by finding out what they buried with their dead, like pottery, jewelry, etc.
They began around 1000 b.c.
The Adena built round homes covered in bark and/or woven grass.
Many Adena people were farmers who grew squash, pumpkin, and sunflowers.
Fruit, nuts, and meat were consumed by Adena.
They turned into the Hopewell around 100 a.d.

How the culture started:

At around 1000 b.c., the Adena culture began near the ohio river valley.
They lasted from then until about a.d.1.
The Adena were one of the first mound-building cultures in Ohio and the states surrounding it.
They became famous for being some of the first to invent farming and gardening.

About the mounds:

The Adena culture is also called "The Mound Builders" because of their famous burial mounds.
Around 500 b.c., the Adena began building their mounds in central and southern Ohio.
Most archeologists believe the Adena built the "Great Serpent Mound" along with the hundreds of others they built.
The Adena became famous for all the mounds they built.

Homes:

The Adena built their villages along rivers in central and southern Ohio.
They built round homes made of bark and/or woven grass.
Sometimes, many families shared one house!
Hunters built teepees made from various animal skins.
Most villages had 4 or 5 houses, each with many families living in each house!

Food, family life, and customs:
Many Adena people were farmers who grew pumpkins, squash, sunflowers, etc.
Many of the things the Adena ate were nuts, berries, and meat such as: fish, clams, deer, elk, rabbits, hickory nuts, walnuts, gooseberries, etc.
A custom of the Adena was burying things with their dead, like jewelry, pottery, metalworks, tools, etc.

How the culture ended:

Technically, the Adena culture didn't end, it turned into the Hopewell culture around the 1st century a.d.
The Hopewell culture ended around 400 a.d.
So really, the Adena wasn't forced away or just peaceably moved away!
